In an instant, your relaxing drive can take a complete turn! Whether it is a flat or blown tire, or even your tire coming completely off, what products can help you avoid these scenarios?
Recently we interviewed Len Prince of Total Tire Protection.
Unexpected Tire Punctures Are Costly
When our tires are working fine, we may not give much thought to them. But all it takes is a little puncture in your tire that can end up leaving you stranded on the side of the road. Over the years, tires have become more resilient, and their resistance to the road is becoming less and less each year. However, even with the many improvements that companies have made on their tires, why do they still need Tire Protector?
Tire Protector can save your tire from going flat from punctures. But how does it work?
Len said it best when he said,
“Tire Protector is a gel that you insert into your tire. It covers the inside crown of your tire so that any punctures that develop up to half of an inch will self-seal. It does this by pushing the gel into the hole automatically, and you won’t even know that it happened.”
Slow Leaks
Along with filling the punctures in your tire that you can receive unknowingly, it also solves the problem of your tires slowly deflating overtime. Tire Protector has been tested in some of the harshest conditions a vehicle will ever experience, from -45 Celsius to +45 Celsius. Among these harsh conditions, it stays in a gel. That is one of the things that make Tire Protectors gel stand out above other gels. It’ll work no matter what weather is thrown at you.
Preventing Wheel Off Situations
When it comes to running a commercial vehicle, safety is always a very important issue. Although it is not as common as getting a puncture in your tire, tires do occasionally come off.
At the 9:26 time mark, Len said,
“Over 50 tires are lost per month, that are reported in North America. This is including, trucks, buses, school buses, etc. When you lose a tire, and it is going down the road, it becomes a projectile. Projectiles will kill, have killed a lot of people. For every tire that is lost and reported, there are about 25 of them that are not reported.”
When you think of it in that way, it’s a real problem that needs to be solved. That is what Total Tire Protection has done. They created a product called Zamlok to combat this danger. What is it, and what does it do?
Zamlok is not only a lock that will save your tire from falling off in case of lug nut failure, but it also has indicators that will show which nut is letting go or failing. When the nut gets to about 10% of the torque percentage, a bright yellow indicator will appear and give you plenty of warning about which lug nut is letting go. There are other products out there that have an indicator, or a lock to save your wheel from falling off, but Zamlok is the only lock with a built-in indicator.
Whether it’s their Tire Protector or their Zamkok, Total Tire Protection can help keep your fleet, and others safe.
