The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) has introduced a groundbreaking survey aimed at understanding the strategies employed by motor carriers to attract and retain female truck drivers.
Calling all Female Truck Drivers
This survey constitutes a crucial component of a comprehensive research project that has been designated a top priority by ATRI’s Research Advisory Committee.
The objective of this study is to uncover the distinct challenges faced by women in the trucking industry and to uncover best practices that can effectively address these challenges.
To gather valuable insights, ATRI is inviting fleets to participate in this research endeavor. They are encouraged to share their input via an online survey, which will document the existing communication channels employed for recruitment, the efficacy of recruitment messaging, and the various initiatives undertaken to foster a positive company culture.
Furthermore, ATRI is also seeking participants for virtual interviews to gain a deeper understanding of this critical issue. A second survey, focusing on gathering feedback from female truck drivers on the same topics, is slated for release later in the year.
Stormie Janzen, Vice President of Safety and Recruiting at Total Transportation of Mississippi, emphasized the importance of this research, stating, “This research is critical if we’re going to meaningfully increase the number of women truck drivers. I encourage my colleagues across the industry to take some time and respond to ATRI’s request.”
Participating carriers are requested to complete the online survey by Friday, November 17, 2023. All data submitted will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.
